The University of Alabama’s Department of Computer Science is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a fully funded PhD position in Cybersecurity under the supervision of Dr. Ahmad Alsharif. Research Focus
The selected candidate will work closely with Dr. Ahmad Alsharif, whose research interests lie in the areas of:
- Network Security and Privacy
- Cryptography and Secure Protocols
- Cyber-Physical Systems Security
- AI and Machine Learning in Cybersecurity
- Threat Detection and Mitigation
The successful candidate will contribute to ongoing projects and initiatives aimed at advancing the state of the art in cybersecurity and will have the opportunity to develop novel solutions to real-world problems.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field (exceptional candidates with a Bachelor’s degree will be considered)
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity fundamentals, including cryptography, network security, and secure software development
- Experience in research and development of security systems
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or Java
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- A demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative research team
